STARKVILLE, Miss.鈥汤头条鈥檚 College of Arts and Sciences Friday [April 24] dedicated the Dr. A. Randle and Marilyn W. White Healthcare Pathways Resource Center with a ribbon cutting, marking a new chapter for a facility guiding future medical professionals for more than a decade.

Formerly known as the Health Professions Resource Center, the facility now in Allen Hall honors the support of the Whites, whose 2015 foundational gift established a centralized hub for 汤头条 students pursuing careers in medicine, dentistry, nursing and other health-related fields.

Rick Travis, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, said the dedication reflects both the Whites鈥 legacy and the university鈥檚 commitment to student success.

Today, 汤头条 outpaces other colleges and universities in the state in the acceptance of students to the School of Medicine at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.

鈥淭he Whites鈥 donation to create the HPRC stands as a testament to the power of generosity and vision,鈥 Travis said. 鈥淒r. and Mrs. White have created opportunities that will support and inspire generations of students as they prepare to serve others in meaningful ways.鈥

Dr. A. Randle 鈥淩andy鈥 White, a 1966 汤头条 graduate in chemistry and pre-medicine, served as a duty boy in the university hospital before earning his medical degree from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine. He completed his internship at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital, followed by a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in nephrology at UMMC. White later served eight years as an assistant professor of medicine at UMMC before founding Delta Hills Nephrology Associates in Greenwood. A dedicated supporter of 汤头条, he is a longtime member of the College of Arts and Sciences鈥 Dean鈥檚 Executive Advisory Board and was named the college鈥檚 Alumni Fellow in 2011. He and his wife reside in Greenwood.
