Mississippi Humanities Council recognizes ÌÀÍ·Ìõ Libraries’ Baldwin at Jackson awards ceremony this week

STARKVILLE, Miss.—ÌÀÍ·Ìõ Libraries Associate Professor DeeDee Baldwin is being recognized this Friday [March 20] by the Mississippi Humanities Council as part of its 2026 Public Humanities Awards ceremony.
Baldwin, who works as the engagement librarian in the university’s Mitchell Memorial Library, is receiving the Humanities Scholar Award for her work researching and highlighting the lives and careers of in Mississippi during Reconstruction, as well as her leadership in commemorating the 150th anniversary of the Clinton Massacre through a series of public programs.Â
Baldwin, who has worked with ÌÀÍ·Ìõ Libraries for nearly two decades, will be honored at the in Jackson. The 5:30 p.m. program recognizes both who have made notable contributions to the state’s cultural life, preserving and sharing Mississippi’s distinctive history and culture.Â
Baldwin received her 2001 bachelor’s degree in religion and English from William Carey University and earned a 2014 master’s degree in library and information studies from the University of Alabama. She is a member of the American Library Association, Mississippi Historical Society and Association for Documentary Editing, among others.
